In 2002 Metise Moore had a vision. He was a basketball player and wanted to help at-risk kids. Soon he met Mike Deatly, also a college basketball player, and the rest is history. Through a lot of personal sacrifice, today the Denver Hooperz is a thriving nonprofit with many teams taking a lot of awards and tournaments.
The Denver Hooperz is not just about basketball though. The organization puts the focus on building leadership and citizenship through the teamwork, and places a great deal of importance on educational excellence through tutoring and mentoring.
We are proud to feature Metise and Mike this week. And don't miss Part Two of Arturo Lopez-Levy's follow-up to Little Brother in our Commentary section.
Until next week,
